Position Description

A research technician position is available in Dr. Lingbo Zhang’s Lab at the Cold Spring Harbor Laboratory.

The Zhang Lab is interested in understanding how self-renewal of stem and progenitor cell is regulated under both normal and malignant conditions, and how the dysregulation of self-renewal process contributes to cancer maintenance during cancerogenesis and stem cell exhaustion seen in aging. The Lab is addressing these questions through utilizing both CRISPR/Cas functional genomic and chemical biology approaches to identify novel self-renewal regulators and metabolic vulnerabilities for hematopoietic stem and progenitor cells and to eventually control these molecular events to treat diseases.

The Lab has recently identified multiple promising drug targets to treat hematopoietic malignancies including myelodysplastic syndrome‎ (MDS) and acute leukemia, and a clinical trial based on one of these drug targets to treat drug resistant MDS is currently under preparation. The Lab is now seeking a motivated candidate to work on projects functionally characterizing drug candidates identified from the CRISPR/Cas functional genomic screening and developing novel therapeutics for various forms of devastating hematopoietic malignancies.

Cold Spring Harbor Laboratory, located in Long Island New York, is a world-renowned biomedical research institution. It has shaped contemporary biomedical research and is the home of eight Nobel Prize laureates. Cold Spring Harbor Laboratory provides a highly dynamic and interactive research environment, and a unique opportunity of timely exposure to advances in various biomedical research fields and of interaction with a broad range of researchers from all over the world through its renowned Meetings and Courses program, which brings more than 12,000 scientists to the campus.
